Carousel Night Light

    WHAT YOU NEEED

  • 1 empty 48.7 oz NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® canister
  • Heavy card stock (8 1/2” x 11”)
  • 1 sheet of white poster board
  • Markers or crayons
  • Decorative sticker strips
  • Safety scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Craft glue gun
  • Small lampshade (about 7” in diameter)
  • Pink and blue jewels (available at craft stores)
  • 1 yard of shiny pastel ribbon
  • Standard night light (available at home or hardware stores)
  • Utility knife
  • Extension cord

    HOW TO DO IT

  • Print out 3 copies of the horse template onto heavy white card stock.

  • Help your child to color in the carousel horses and cut them out.

  • Cut a piece of poster board 6 3/4”x 19 1/2” and hot glue it around the outside of the NESQUIK canister.

  • (PARENTS ONLY) Use a utility knife to cut a 1" square opening for the night light at the back bottom of the NESQUIK canister.

  • (PARENTS ONLY) Insert the night light into the inside of the canister with the prongs coming out of the opening. Secure the night light to the bottom of the canister with hot glue.

  • Decorate the outside of the canister with strips of colorful stickers around its top and bottom edges.

  • Using the glue stick, secure the colored carousel horses around the outside of the canister.

  • Decorate the lampshade with blue-and-pink colored craft jewels around the top, and shiny pastel ribbon around the bottom.

  • Rest the lampshade on top of the canister.

  • Set the carousel night light on a table or shelf in your child's room.

  • (PARENTS ONLY) Plug the nightlight into an extension cord and then plug the extension cord into the wall.

  • To turn the night light on or off, simply lift off the shade and reach into the canister and flip the switch on the light inside.

    TIPS

  • You can select the colors of the jewels and the ribbon for the lampshade to fit the color scheme of your child's room.
