1 - 21.8 oz NESTLÉ NESQUIK Powder canister lid
1 - 4” wide round plastic lid (margarine tub)
3 sheets of white craft foam (9” x 12”)
1 sheet each of black, green and orange craft foam (8.5” x 11”)
1 square of red felt (approximately 8.5” x 11”)
Elastic 1/8” wide: white and black
Craft glue gun
1/8” hole punch
Black permanent pen
HOW TO DO IT
Print out the templates.
Cut out the parts of the snowman and his clothing from craft foam as indicated on each of the templates.
Cut out snowman's scarf pieces from red felt.
Using a 1/8” hole punch, punch 1 hole in each of the smallest and largest lids, along the rim. Next punch 2 holes in the mid-sized lid in opposite sides of each other, along the rim.
Before assembling the snowman, position the 3 lids (starting with the largest) on a flat surface with the punched holes aligned vertically (top to bottom).
Cut 2, 4” pieces of white elastic. Thread the first piece through the hole on the largest lid and the bottom hole on the mid-sized lid and tie the ends together. Thread the second piece through the top hole on the mid-sized lid and the hole on the small lid and tie the ends together.
Using a craft glue gun, glue the largest white craft foam circle to the largest lid. Next glue on 2 of the green buttons.
Using a craft glue gun, glue the mid-sized white craft foam circle to the mid-sized lid. Add the other 2 green buttons here.
Glue the red felt scarf to the top of the middle circle, gluing on the end pieces first, so they sit under the horizontal piece of scarf.
Using a craft glue gun, glue the smallest white craft foam circle to the smallest lid. Next glue on 2 of the black craft foam eyes. Glue on the orange craft foam nose, followed by the black craft foam hat. Add the red felt band on the hat, as well as the holly leaves, using the craft glue gun.
With a black permanent marker, draw dots in the shape of a smile.
Using a 1/8” hole punch, punch 1 hole in the top-center of the hat, 1/4” from the top.
Cut 1, 6” piece of black elastic. Thread it through the hole at the top of the hat.
This jumpin' snowman makes a great front door decoration.
If you live in or near the snow, help your kids make the real thing! After stacking up 3 very large snowballs your kids can decorate the snowman with their own clothing such as an old scarf and snow hat. See A Mini Snow Family for more ideas.
