Giant Bubble Wand

What's better than playing with bubbles on a summer's day?
Playing with giant bubbles! In this project, you’ll get to put your own spin on this playtime favorite
by making a soapy bubble solution and a customized, giant bubble wand.
Ages: Adults and kids 6 and up
Duration: Under One Hour
WHAT YOU NEED
1 round lid from a canister
Safety Scissors
1-1/2 inch wide by 7 inches long colored plastic strips (available at craft stores)
1 recipe for soapy bubbles (see recipe below)
HOW TO DO IT
Use a Safety Scissors to cut out the center of the canister lid. Use the inside ridge as a guide.
Use a Safety Scissors to cut a 1-1/2 inch slit on one side of the lid's edge.
To create the wand's handle, use 1-1/2 x 7 inch plastic strip. Insert one end through the slit in the canister lid. Secure with a liberal amount of craft glue. Let dry.
Make a batch of Soapy Bubbles (see recipe below.)
Take the bubbles and wand outside for giant bubble fun!
Play bubble-blowing games. For example: who can make the biggest bubble, whose bubble pops first - whose bubble pops last, whose bubble travels farthest.
Soapy Bubbles
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups of dishwashing detergent
4 cups of warm water
6 - 8 tablespoons of glycerin (available at drugstores)
2 teaspoons of sugar
DIRECTIONS:
MIX all of the ingredients together in an unbreakable container.
TIPS
There are two great ways to make bubbles. You can dip into the solution and blow slowly through the opening, or you can wave the wand in one direction through the air.
